New-Old-Stock (NOS) Hatta "Vesta" Chromoly Steel Threaded Headset...ISO Dimensions
Thank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly return/refund/exchange policies.
Product Description:
Listing Update...We are getting a few questions about these headsets and their possible compatibility with BMX bikes. As noted in more detail below, these are ISO spec'd headsets that are going to be compatible with a number of road bike applications, but will not be compatible with BMX frames/forks. The primary problem here concerns the press component pieces that mount in the head tube. These ISO spec'd press pieces measure 30.2 mm in diameter, but a BMX head tube requires press pieces that measure a full 2.5 mm larger...so 32.7 mm in diameter.
Original Listing...
This is a new-old-stock Japanese made Hatta "Vesta" threaded headset. It's your basic 1" chromoly steel headset that should be fairly durable for general use. It is by no means a high-end model, but still good quality (and a nice chrome finish) in a complete headset unit. They are a little heavier at about 150 grams (per our digital postal scale), but we think the added weight (steel) will translate into added durability/reliability. We also noted these headsets include the thin rubber rings that fit very well in notched-out sections of the races...the upper head race and the crown race...to help prevent dirt, moisture, etc. from getting to the bearings. It's a small detail, but a nice functional improvement that should help with performance and extend the life of these headset units.
In terms of sizing, this headset has ISO standard dimensions for a 25.4 mm steerer opening, which means it is compatible with a 1" threaded fork (24 threads per inch) and a stem with a diameter of 22.2 mm (or 7/8"). More specifically, the crown race inside diameter is 26.4 mm and the frame cup outside diameter (or said another way...the outside diameter of the head race sections that press into the head tube) is 30.2 mm. The stack height (and we define stack height as the combined height of all visible headset components after being mounted on the fork and head tube) is a combined 38.0 mm (approximate per our digital calipers).
All of these units came to us bulk packed...probably for OEM build-ups that never materialized. They are all new and unused with little shopwear.
Terms and Conditions:
You may visit our store by clicking on this
"Store Home Page"
link and please note the product categories on the left side of our
"Store Home Page"
.
We have also moved our
"Terms and Conditions"
to a separate page within our Ebay store. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.
Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collect
