1997 Hummer H1 6.5L turbo diesel
This is my daily driver and the mileage will be more than what it currently shows (125,348) even if you bought it this evening
$60k OBO
I recently had it detailed inside and out, as well as the engine
Any specks you see in the pictures are not chips. I ran thru a gathering of bugs on my way home from work. The H1 was painted satin black in February 2019
The H1 was rubber undercoated in 2020 which included the bumper and wheel wells.
MOMO
Monsoon stereo. Absolutely love Monsoon!
I have had the H1 regularly serviced by Phantom Diesel in Mead, Colorado and they have eliminated every leak the vehicle had. Though it tends to spring some new leak every 4 to 5 months (typical H1). If this is your first Hummer... you have been warned. Like an old feller, they have leakages. If you buy this H1 and are close enough to Phantom, I highly recommend these guys. Fair priced and excellent diesel mechanics.
New heated windshields were both replaced in the last couple of years and they are still in pristine shape.
I have never abused this vehicle and it has never been off road while I have owned it. With that said, I cannot attest as to how it was treated before I got it. It seemed to be in good shape when I bought it. It is a HummerCore project and still bears their emblem. They do really nice work on H1s.
Here is why you shouldn't buy this vehicle (and other stuff you may need/want to know):
(I have never had a bad dealing with anyone. I will tell you absolutely EVERYTHING I know to be wrong with this vehicle)
1) High pressure washes will leak into the cabin (doors). I tried to get better seals when it was in the body shop getting repainted, but it still will allow some water in during an automatic high pressure wash. New seals did not stop it, though it made it tons better.
2) The heater/ac only blows on full blast. I have the original module as a spare (not the problem) and I have replaced the resistor 2 or 3 times. It will blow on low and mid for a while, but then it fails. Full blast has never failed and the AC is cold and the heater is hot. If you have never had an H1, this may not necessarily be a problem. The heat/ac systems are pretty lackluster in Hummers and you won't mind it being on full blast when it is running.
3) You have to make sure the transmission stick is fully in park or the ignition key will not turn. Not a huge deal
4) Small bit of the rear hatch door hinge (driver side) is chipped out (about 1/4" or 1 tooth)
5) Emissions is provided at no cost (free) but could be inconvenient for you (depending upon where you live). H1s do not fit into normal emissions testing centers. I just got the new emissions (March/April) which I had to drive to Denver to get a 'pass'. The emissions center has some technicians look at it and check the smoke coming out of the tailpipe while they power brake the vehicle. They deem it within or outside of acceptable visual exhaust range. I am sorry if this is over simplified, but... They passed it and there was no charge for their service. I sent them some pizzas the next day (anonymously) cause they were super nice old guys.
6) I took off a lower and upper light bar when it went in for recent paint. I have the lights, if you want them. I know one of the lights was burned out and will need to be replaced.
7) The CTIS works without concern. I have to pump about 3-5lbs into the tires every 4-5 days. Not a big deal. It takes about 2 minutes to even out the 4 tires, but there must be a small leak somewhere. I have had the issue since I bought the vehicle (5-6 years ago).
8) The interior lights keep blowing fuses. I have located the issue to a main wire bundle atop the engine. Because I usually bring home food in the Hummer, this is not an issue for me because I like to leave the door open overnight in the garage so the rig doesn't smell like Popeyes' or ???
9) I have never been a fan of leather or vinyl seats. I put sheepskin covers on all 4 seats and you are welcome to them if you buy the H1. The seats under the sheepskins are like new. The beauty of the sheepskin is that they are very comfortable whether it is below zero or over 100 degrees outside. Remember, the H1 is sorta known for lackluster heating/ac. I believe there are some after market blower upgrades, but that would be your problem and no longer mine.
10) I would rate the interior overall condition at about a 6 or 7 out of 10 (not including great condition of the seats). If this doesn't sell, I am going to carbon fiber the entire interior. The carpet p
